Architecture Notes
The Westwood renovation brought a 1950's ranch firmly into the 21st century. Constructed with durable, low maintenance materials and a focus on contemporary use of space, Westwood was ultimately transformed from a cramped run-down space into a bright, healthy, and energy efficient home for a modern family.
Our team drew inspiration from the Arts and Crafts period, adding deep overhangs with exposed rafter tails, an elongated porch with boxed tapered columns, and reclaimed period windows. For the attic, we maximized space by creating two large shed-dormers oriented laterally off either side of the ridge. The dormer solution allowed us to rework the top floor into a generous master suite, children’s bedrooms and bathroom, and elegant connecting hallway.
